Dear Representative Humphries:
SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2155 by House Committee on Judiciary
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2155 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2155 would clarify that sheriffs have liability for official acts related to the charge and
custody of jails. The bill would specify that sheriffs and their sureties would be liable for the acts
of deputies or jailers performing official duties related to the management of the jail.
The Judiciary indicates that enactment of the bill would have no fiscal effect on its
operations. The Kansas Association of Counties indicates that the bill would have no fiscal effect
on county governments.
