Dear Representative Wasinger:

SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2393 by House Committee on Appropriations

In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2393 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.

HB 2393 would extend the sunset provisions for various fees the Kansas Supreme Court is
authorized to charge to fund the costs of non-judicial personnel from June 30, 2025, to June 30,
2030.

The Office of Judicial Administration indicates enactment of the bill would not have a
fiscal effect on the Judicial Branch because the fees authorized in the bill would be remitted to the
State General Fund. The revenues collected from the district court surcharge and municipal court
surcharge for FY 2021 through FY 2024 are listed below:

District Court Surcharge Revenue
FY 2021 $7,155,321
FY 2022 $7,676,165

FY 2024 $7,257,912
