Dear Senator Gossage:

SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 145 by Senator Shane

In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 145 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.

SB 145 would expand the number and circumstances of when reports need to be sent from
the Department for Children and Families (DCF) to law enforcement agencies. Additionally, the
bill would permit additional sharing of DCF resources with law enforcement.

DCF indicates that enactment of SB 145 would have no fiscal effect on the agency. The
Kansas Association of Counties states enactment of the bill could impact reporting, though it is
unclear how much of an impact this would have. The League of Kansas Municipalities indicates
that SB 145 could have a positive fiscal effect on cities. This bill would allow local law
enforcement agencies to request resources from DCF for investigations.

 	Sincerely,

 	Adam C. Proffitt
 	Director of the Budget
