SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 247 by Senate Committee on Judiciary
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 247 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 247 would amend the Scrap Metal Theft Reduction Act. Currently, a vehicle dealer is
exempt from certain requirements when selling scrap metal. Under SB 247 vehicle dealers would
no longer be exempt.
The Office of the Attorney General states that enactment of the bill could increase the
number of violations reported to the Office, but any additional workload could be absorbed within
existing resources.
