The Honorable Larry Alley, Chairperson
Senate Committee on Commerce
300 SW 10th Avenue, Room 159-S
Topeka, Kansas 66612

Dear Senator Alley:

SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 297 by Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs

In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 297 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.

SB 297 would restore local government control over wages, compensation, and benefits
for construction projects.

Both the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Department of Labor state the bill’s
enactment would not have a fiscal effect on the operations of either agency.

The League of Kansas Municipalities states enactment of the bill would have a negligible
fiscal effect on Kansas cities. The Kansas Association of Counties states the bill’s enactment
would have a fiscal effect on Kansas counties; however, the Association does not have enough
information to estimate a fiscal effect.

 	Sincerely,

 	Adam C. Proffitt
 	Director of the Budget
