SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 79 by Senate Committee on Government Efficiency
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 79 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 79 would direct the Secretary for Children and Families to request a waiver from the
federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that would allow the state to prohibit the
purchase of candy and soft drinks with food assistance benefits.
The Department for Children and Families indicates that enactment of SB 79 would have
no fiscal effect.
