AN ACT relating to the unauthorized practice of law. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
ď˘Section 1. KRS 524.130 is amended to read as follows: 3
(1) Except as provided in KRS 341.470 and subsection (2) of this section, a person is 4
guilty of unlawful practice of law when, without a license issued by the Supreme 5
Court, he or she engages in the practice of law, as defined by rule of the Supreme 6
Court. 7
(2) A licensed nonresident attorney in good standing, although not licensed in 8
Kentucky, is not guilty of unlawful practice if, in accordance with rules adopted by 9
the Supreme Court, he or she practices law under specific authorization of a court. 10
(3) Unlawful practice of law is: 11
(a) A Class A[B] misdemeanor for the first offense; and 12
(b) A Class D felony for a second or subsequent offense. 13
