A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Spc. David W. Taylor Memorial Highway 1 
in Henderson County. 2 
WHEREAS, Specialist (Spc.) David W. Taylor started talking about joining the 3 
military at the age of 13, feeling a deep sense of patriotism that grew stronger over time; 4 
and 5 
WHEREAS, Spc. David W. Taylor joined the Army in 2010 as an infantryman. He 6 
was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade 7 
Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and 8 
WHEREAS, Spc. David W. Taylor attended One-Station Unit Training and 9 
Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and he was a graduate of the Warrior Leaders 10 
Course; and 11 
WHEREAS, on March 29, 2012, at the age of 20, Spc. David W. Taylor died from 12 
wounds sustained in an accident while in the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan; and 13 
WHEREAS, those who served with Spc. David Taylor had warm things to say 14 
about him and his work ethic; and 15 
WHEREAS, Capt. Brian W. Bifulco, Spc. David W. Taylor's company commander 16 
said "It was evident since the day I met him that David had all the qualities desirable in a 17 
paratrooper: smart, aggressive, committed, and reliable. He displayed them readily in 18 
everything he did"; and 19 
WHEREAS, Spc. David W. Taylor's platoon leader at Fort Bragg, Lt. Eric 20 
Fitzgerald, stated "He was probably one of the most outstanding paratroopers in the 21 
whole platoon, just striving to be the best...When you wanted something done, when you 22 
wanted it done right, you went to Taylor for it"; and 23 
WHEREAS, hundreds of people lined up for the funeral procession of Spc. David 24 
W. Taylor, and thousands more lined the streets of Henderson for his final journey home; 25 
and 26 
WHEREAS, this highway designation will serve as a constant reminder of the life 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	22 RS BR 2276

and memory of Spc. David W. Taylor, and the ultimate sacrifice he made in defending 1 
this great nation; 2 
NOW, THEREFORE, 3 
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 4 
Section 1.   The Transportation Cabinet shall designate United States Highway 5 
60 in Henderson County, from Corydon/Geneva Road (mile point 5.598) to Kentucky 6 
Route 136 (mile point 8.706) as the "Spc. David W. Taylor Memorial Highway" and shall 7 
within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage. 8
