UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS SJR 6/GA Page 1 of 3 SJR000610.100 - 1240 - XXXX GA A JOINT RESOLUTION designating honorary names for various roads and 1 bridges. 2 WHEREAS, from time to time, the General Assembly has seen fit to honor various 3 Kentuckians by naming portions of state highways and erecting commemorative roadway 4 signs in their honor; and 5 WHEREAS, these Kentuckians have come from all walks of life, held a multitude 6 of jobs, and had a variety of accomplishments that made them deserving of the honor; and 7 WHEREAS, these individuals have included former Governors, former members of 8 the General Assembly, decorated veterans, slain law enforcement officers, local elected 9 officials, astronauts, doctors, educators, distinguished athletes, and civic leaders; and 10 WHEREAS, every citizen of the Commonwealth owes a great debt of gratitude to 11 the patriotic men and women killed and wounded in service to their country in times of 12 great need; and 13 WHEREAS, the General Assembly has often honored the veterans of this state by 14 naming portions of several roads, from interstates to small two-lane country roads, in 15 their honor; and 16 WHEREAS, the General Assembly again sees fit to honor a group of individuals 17 who have made the lives of their fellow Kentuckians better and brought honor and respect 18 to the Commonwealth; 19 NOW, THEREFORE, 20 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 21 Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 2827 in 22 Jessamine County as the "Senator Tom Buford Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 23 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage denoting this 24 designation. 25 Section 2. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 2155 South in 26 Daviess County, from 5th Street to its intersection with United States Highway 231, as 27 the "Senator Joe R. Bowen Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the effective 28 date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage. 29 Section 3. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Interstate 64 in Jefferson 30 UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS SJR 6/GA Page 2 of 3 SJR000610.100 - 1240 - XXXX GA County, from mile point 0 to its intersection with United States Highway 150, as the 1 "Representative Darryl T. Owens Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the 2 effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 3 Section 4. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 144 in 4 Daviess County, from the intersection with Knottsville-Mt. Zion Road (mile point 5 10.453) to the Hancock County line, as the "Warren Lanham Memorial Highway" and 6 shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs 7 denoting this designation. This designation will supersede any previous honorary 8 designation for this portion of Kentucky Route 144. 9 Section 5. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 8 in 10 Boone County, from mile point 7.7 to its intersection with Anderson Ferry, as the "SP5 11 Edward 'Eddie' A. Barlow Memorial Highway," and shall, within 30 days of the effective 12 date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage. 13 Section 6. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 14 Route 44 in Spencer County, just west of Taylorsville over Brashers Creek (Bridge 15 Number 108B00045), as the "Deputy Frank Dulin Memorial Bridge" and shall, within 30 16 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this 17 designation. 18 Section 7. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 19 Route 2447, near its intersection with Kentucky Route 7 in Perry County, as the "Arthur 20 & Bill Caudill WWII Memorial Bridge" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of 21 this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage. 22 Section 8. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 23 Route 3 in Martin County, near mile point 7.75, in honor and memory of the Davis 24 brothers. The Transportation Cabinet shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this 25 Resolution, erect the signage that reads: 26 "Davis Brothers Memorial Bridge 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS SJR 6/GA Page 3 of 3 SJR000610.100 - 1240 - XXXX GA Homer, Herman, Curtis, & Ted." 1 Section 9. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 3260 in 2 Pulaski County as the "Jerry S. Ikerd Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the 3 effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 4 Section 10. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Interstate 64 in Jefferson 5 County, from the Story Avenue overpass to the Grinstead Drive overpass, as the "Officer 6 Zachary Cottongim Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of 7 this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 8 Section 11. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 1674 in 9 Pulaski County as the "SPC Jakob Cole Aton Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 10 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this 11 designation. 12 Section 12. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 13 Route 40 in Martin County, near mile point 10.153, as the "PFC Jacob Andrew "Jake" 14 Horn Memorial Bridge" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, 15 erect the appropriate signs denoting this designation. 16 Section 13. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the overpass on 17 Kentucky Route 92 in Whitley County as the "Charles William 'Bill' Nighbert Memorial 18 Overpass" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the 19 appropriate signage denoting this designation. 20 Section 14. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 3 in 21 Lawrence County, from its intersection with Kentucky Route 32 (near mile point 15.52) 22 to its intersection with United States Highway 23 (near mile point 17.054), as "Louisa 23 Trace" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the 24 appropriate signage. 25
