UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS BR 1271 Page 1 of 2 XXXX Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Dianna 1 Brown Golphin. 2 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 3 27, 1957, the daughter of Walter and Eva Brown; and 4 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin relocated to McClellanville, South Carolina, 5 where she was a member of the Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church and 6 graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975. She went on to have an exemplary 7 collegiate career at Claflin University where she became a member of Alpha Kappa 8 Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Pi Gamma Mu National Social Science Honor Society 9 prior to graduating in 1979; and 10 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin was affiliated with Bethel African Methodist 11 Episcopal Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and was a lifetime member of the Women's 12 Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and served as President of 13 the Kentucky Conference Women's Missionary Society, along with multiple other 14 positions within the African Methodist Episcopal Church; and 15 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin touched the lives of many young people and 16 families throughout Kentucky as a former high school advisor and Director of Student 17 Development at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. In these roles she found a 18 love for helping students find their voice and path in life; and 19 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin possessed a love for education and social work 20 which was coupled with her call to ministry through missions and her exemplification of 21 ministry as a lifestyle. She was able to spread her love for the Lord and for service 22 internationally through her missionary work and to better the lives of so many throughout 23 the world and in Kentucky; and 24 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on 25 Tuesday, December 14, 2021; and 26 WHEREAS, Dianna Brown Golphin was preceded in death by her father, Walter 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS BR 1271 Page 2 of 2 XXXX Jacketed Brown and brother, Vander Lee Polite. She is survived by her husband and companion in 1 life for nearly 40 years, Presiding Elder Kenneth J. Golphin; her children, Chastity 2 Golphin, Kendra Golphin, Chauncey Golphin, and Kenneth James Golphin; 3 granddaughter, Evalynn N. Golphin; children of her heart, Marcus Weston, Lasica Allen 4 McEwen, Anessia Nutter, and Rachel Munson; her mother, Eva Brown; her sisters, Anna 5 Sutton (Dennis), Debbie Sutton (Michael), and Melody Mobley (Joe); several aunts and 6 uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous other beloved family members and 7 friends; 8 NOW, THEREFORE, 9 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 10 Kentucky: 11 Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 12 sympathy upon the passing of Mrs. Dianna Brown Golphin and posthumously thank her 13 for her service in the fields of education and social work throughout Kentucky as well as 14 her missionary work throughout the world. 15 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns on this day, it does so in honor and loving 16 memory of Mrs. Dianna Brown Golphin. 17 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 18 Resolution to Senator Reginald Thomas for delivery. 19
