AN ACT relating to fees for constable services. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
ď˘Section 1. KRS 64.190 is amended to read as follows: 3
(1) Constables may collect for the performance of the following services the following 4
fees, as long as the[such] services are provided in accordance with other applicable 5
laws: 6
Making arrests for violations involving a motor vehicle on 7
the public highways ............................................................................................$0.50 8
Taking up a vagrant ............................................................................................$0.50 9
Killing a mad dog ...............................................................................................$1.00 10
Killing and burying a distempered horse, ass or mule ........................................$3.00 11
Killing and burying any other cattle, per head ....................................................$2.00 12
Altering a stud, jackass or bull ............................................................................$1.00 13
For any other services a constable is authorized by law to perform, the constable 14
shall be entitled to the same fees allowed sheriffs for similar services. 15
(2) Constables shall charge and collect a fee of sixty dollars ($60) from any person 16
not requesting the service of the constable on behalf of the Commonwealth, any 17
of its agencies, or the Department of Kentucky State Police for the services 18
provided in KRS 64.090(1) that a constable is authorized by law to perform where 19
a percentage, commission, or reasonable fee is not otherwise allowed. If a 20
percentage, commission, or reasonable fee is allowed, that amount shall be paid. 21
If payment is specified from a person other than the person who requested the 22
service, then the person specified shall be responsible for payment. 23
