A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Corporal James "Jim" Caudill Memorial 1 
Bridge in Perry County. 2 
WHEREAS, James "Jim" Caudill, son of Dulcena and Lyttle Caudill, was born on 3 
April 27, 1922, in Farler, Kentucky; and 4 
WHEREAS, James "Jim" Caudill served in the United States Army during World 5 
War II, enlisting as a private in the 410th Infantry Division, Company F, on March 15, 6 
1942, and achieved the rank of Corporal; and 7 
WHEREAS, Corporal James "Jim" Caudill served in the Sicily Campaign, the 8 
Naples-Foggia Campaign, the Rome-Arno Campaign, the Rhineland Campaign, the 9 
Southern France Campaign, and the Central Europe Campaign; and 10 
WHEREAS, during his service, Corporal James "Jim" Caudill was awarded a 11 
Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, a Bronze Arrowhead, a Good Conduct Medal, and 12 
the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Silver Service Star and 13 
one Bronze Service Star; and 14 
WHEREAS, when Corporal James "Jim" Caudill was discharged from service on 15 
September 24, 1945, he returned to Perry County where he married Josephine Hylton and 16 
they were blessed with Clyde Michael, James, and Jesse; and 17 
WHEREAS, Corporal James "Jim" Caudill served with honor and valor during 18 
World War II; and 19 
WHEREAS, Corporal James "Jim" Caudill died on July 26, 1998, in Perry County; 20 
and 21 
WHEREAS, this bridge designation will serve as a reminder of Corporal James 22 
"Jim" Caudill's life, sacrifice, and dedication to our nation; 23 
NOW, THEREFORE, 24 
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 25 
Section 1.   The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge at the junction 26 
of Kentucky Route 1165 and Kentucky Route 1166 in Perry County (Bridge Number 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 1578

097B000141N), in honor of Corporal James "Jim" Caudill, and shall, within 30 days of 1 
the effective date of this Resolution, erect signs denoting this designation,  2 
  "Cpl. James "Jim" Caudill Memorial Bridge 3 
  Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster Recipient". 4
