PURPOSE OF MEASURE: This legislation would require the Auditor of Public Accounts to
conduct a performance review of the Department of Juvenile Justice’s pre-adjudication facilities
and to submit a report detailing the findings to the Legislative Research Commission.
FISCAL EXPLANATION : This legislation appropriates $500,000 in General Fund in fiscal
year (FY) 2023 for the purpose of conducting the performance review. These funds are
authorized to carry forward into FY 2024, at the end of which any unexpended funds would
lapse.
