UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 458 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 12/16/2022 2:12 PM Jacketed AN ACT relating to emergency medical services oversight. 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2 ď˘Section 1. KRS 311A.025 is amended to read as follows: 3 (1) The board shall, subject to the provisions of this chapter, create levels of 4 certification or licensure, as appropriate for providing services under this chapter. 5 These may consist of but not be limited to: 6 (a) Emergency medical services educator, Level I, II, and III; 7 (b) Emergency medical responder; 8 (c) Emergency medical technician and advanced emergency medical technician; 9 (d) Paramedic, advanced practice paramedic, and paramedic preceptor; 10 (e) Emergency medical services medical director who supervises a person or 11 organization licensed or certified by the board; 12 (f) Mobile integrated healthcare program medical director who supervises an 13 MIH program licensed by the board; 14 (g) Emergency medical services training institution; 15 (h) Emergency medical services testing agency; 16 (i) Ground ambulance service, including categories thereof; 17 (j) Air ambulance service; 18 (k) Medical first response provider; and 19 (l) [Emergency medical dispatcher, emergency medical dispatch instructor, and 20 emergency medical dispatch instructor trainer; 21 (m) Emergency medical dispatch center or public safety answering point; and 22 (n) ]Any other entity authorized by this chapter. 23 (2) The board shall promulgate administrative regulations in accordance with KRS 24 Chapter 13A for any certification or license the board may create. The 25 administrative regulations shall, at a minimum, address: 26 (a) Requirements for students, if appropriate; 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 458 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 12/16/2022 2:12 PM Jacketed (b) Requirements for training; 1 (c) Eligibility for certification or licensure; and 2 (d) Renewal, recertification, and relicensure requirements. 3 (3) The board may authorize a physician licensed to practice in Kentucky to serve as an 4 emergency medical services medical director if that physician meets the 5 requirements specified by the board by administrative regulation. 6 (4) A hospital that owns an ambulance service that is exempt from certificate of need 7 pursuant to KRS 216B.020(7) may provide transport services from another health 8 facility to its hospital if authorized by the ambulance service provider with 9 jurisdiction in the territory in which the other health facility is located. 10
