AN ACT relating to private and parochial school calendars. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
ď˘Section 1. KRS 158.080 is amended to read as follows: 3
Private and parochial schools certified in accordance with KRS 156.160(3) shall: 4
(1) Be taught in the English language and shall offer instruction in the several branches 5
of study required to be taught in the public schools of the state, consistent with KRS 6
156.445(3); and[. Except in those school districts operating a year-round school 7
program, the term of the school shall not be for a shorter period in each year than 8
the term of the public school provided in the district in which the child attending the 9
school resides. In those school districts which are operating a year-round school 10
program, the minimum term of private and parochial schools shall be one hundred 11
eighty-five (185) days] 12
(2) Operate on a school calendar with a minimum school term and student 13
instructional year, as defined in KRS 158.070. 14
