A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Archie 1 
Michael "Mike" Mays. 2 
WHEREAS, Archie Michael "Mike" Mays was born on October 22, 1948, in 3 
Booneville, Kentucky, to Banford and Nina Mays; and 4 
WHEREAS, after graduating from Owsley County High School in 1966, Mike 5 
Mays served his country honorably during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy; 6 
and  7 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays retired as the Owsley County Circuit Court Clerk in 8 
November 2021, after serving in that position for 45 years; and 9 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays was a member of the Cow Creek Presbyterian Church, and 10 
served his community in many ways, including as a board member for the Owsley 11 
County Health Department, Kentucky River Area Development District, Kentucky 12 
Association of Circuit Court Clerks, the Lions Club, and the Booneville Masonic Lodge; 13 
and 14 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays was a member of the Owsley County Sportsman's Club, a 15 
past member of the volunteer fire department, and a referee in the 14th Region for over 16 
30 years; and 17 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays was extremely proud to receive the 5th Congressional 18 
District Lincoln Club Hall of Fame Award in 2018; and 19 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays departed from this life on Thursday, February 16, 2023; 20 
and 21 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays was preceded in death by his parents; son Adam Mays; 22 
stepson Ben Bowman; and sister Sheila Mays Clay; and  23 
WHEREAS, Mike Mays is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sheila Mays; 24 
daughters Kristin Mays and Kimberly Bowman; son Christopher (Ashley) Bowman; 25 
sisters Jill (Biz) Bruckner and Debbie Palmer; brothers Teddie (Pat) Mays and Deron 26 
(Tammy) Mays; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 1798

members and friends; 1 
NOW, THEREFORE, 2 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 3 
Kentucky: 4 
Section 1.   The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 5 
passing of Archie Michael "Mike" Mays and expresses heartfelt condolences to his 6 
family in this time of loss. 7 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 8 
memory of Archie Michael "Mike" Mays. 9 
Section 3.   The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this 10 
Resolution to Senate President Robert Stivers for delivery to the family. 11
