UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 829 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 12/15/2022 9:21 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION honoring Addia Wuchner for her resolute work supporting the 1 right to life. 2 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner is a native of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, born 3 in Louisville, and a long time resident of Northern Kentucky; and 4 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner is a registered nurse, dedicating over 36 years of her 5 life to healthcare; and 6 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner's passion for helping others has taken the form of 7 mission work, and her calling has led her to Bosnia and Croatia during those countries' 8 darkest hours amid war, and has taken her to provide comfort to persons suffering amid 9 natural disasters in New Orleans, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, as well as providing 10 much needed surgical care to the citizens of Mexico; and 11 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner has been recognized for her professional contributions 12 in bioethics relative to healthcare and public policy, so much so that Thomas More 13 University recognized her significant contributions and as such bestowed an Honorary 14 Doctorate in Humane Letters in consideration of not only her contributions in bioethics, 15 but also her efforts regarding the rights of the unborn and international humanitarian aid; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner served the citizens of Boone County from 2005 to 18 2019, and during that time she rose to be selected as the first woman to chair the House 19 Standing Committee on Health and Family Services; and 20 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner's advocacy for the unborn child while in the Kentucky 21 General Assembly included the co-sponsorship and the tireless promotion of the 22 Ultrasound Informed Consent Act of 2017; and 23 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner was the primary sponsor of 2018 House Bill 454, An 24 Act relating to the human rights of unborn children, and sought to prevent abortion 25 through dismemberment and other means; and 26 WHEREAS, Addia Wuchner's commitment to the rights of unborn children led to 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 829 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 12/15/2022 9:21 AM Jacketed her being chosen as the executive director of the Kentucky Right to Life Association, 1 where she continues her stalwart support of and advocacy for unborn children in the 2 Commonwealth; 3 NOW, THEREFORE, 4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 5 Kentucky: 6 Section 1. The Senate does hereby adjourn this day in honor of Addia Wuchner 7 for her career long, if not life long, support of healthcare for innumerable individuals in 8 this world, from those living in the Americas to those living in Europe, and from those 9 who have been born, to those who have yet to be born. 10 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 11 Resolution to Senator John Schickel for presentation to Addia Wuchner. 12
