A RESOLUTION recognizing workforce and training initiatives. 1 
WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has put forth tremendous effort to build 2 
relationships with federal and state agencies, law enforcement, the private sector, and 3 
academic researchers to pave the way for collaboration in cybersecurity; and 4 
WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has been a vehicle to bring federal 5 
cybersecurity research, development, and education dollars to Kentucky, has been a 6 
national leader in the NSA's cyber workforce training initiative, and has brought in 7 
around $13 million in the last five years that has supported curriculum development and 8 
scholarships to train veterans, military, and first responders; and 9 
WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has developed a national cybersecurity 10 
certificate program that includes online learning, hands-on applied learning labs at all 11 
levels, and gamification components, along with online technology industry badging 12 
from Microsoft, IBM, and Google; and 13 
WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has provided industry-based credentialing 14 
needed by Kentucky businesses and federal agencies and has trained hundreds of law 15 
enforcement personnel, veterans and military, health care and logistics companies, and 16 
defense contractors in the last two years; and 17 
WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has partnered with corporations, including 18 
logistics companies, health care providers, and others, as well as other colleges and 19 
universities, to create a national cybersecurity training coalition that includes Kentucky 20 
Community and Technical Colleges and higher education institutions across the United 21 
States; 22 
NOW, THEREFORE, 23 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 24 
Kentucky: 25 
Section 1.   The members of the Senate recognize the University of Louisville for 26 
its efforts to keep Kentucky's critical infrastructure safe and build a well-trained 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 1865
