A RESOLUTION honoring Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Day at the State Capitol. 1 
WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Day at the State Capitol is a national 2 
program through which Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members throughout the United 3 
States meet with their legislators to address issues that are pertinent to their communities; 4 
and 5 
WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's unending quest to be "Supreme in 6 
Service to All Mankind" spans across domestic and international boundaries through the 7 
service of members of more than 1,000 chapters around the world; and 8 
WHEREAS, the state of Kentucky hosts 16 of these chapters on college and 9 
university campuses and has active alumnae groups throughout the state; and 10 
WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is a union of 325,000 11 
energetic, ambitious, and dedicated college-trained women who have consciously chosen 12 
this affiliation to promote community initiatives that strengthen the bonds of sisterhood in 13 
support of their service mission, empower families, build economic wealth, enhance the 14 
environment, advocate for social justice, and uplift the community; and 15 
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha 16 
Sorority, Incorporated, for 115 years of exemplary leadership and outstanding community 17 
service, and to designate Thursday, March 2, 2023, as Alpha Kappa Alpha Day at the 18 
State Capitol; 19 
NOW, THEREFORE, 20 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 21 
Kentucky: 22 
Section 1.   The Senate honors Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Day at the State 23 
Capitol, March 2, 2023, and welcomes the members of the Kentucky chapters of this 24 
national organization who are visiting the Capitol today. 25 
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 26 
Resolution to Senator Gerald Neal for delivery. 27
