AN ACT relating to compensation of jurors. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
Section 1. KRS 29A.170 is amended to read as follows: 3
(1) All jurors in Circuit and District Court shall be paid fifty[five] dollars ($50)[($5)] 4
per day for jury service[. In addition thereto, they shall be paid seven dollars and 5
fifty cents ($7.50) per day as reimbursement of expenses incurred, which sum is 6
hereby determined to be the equivalent of the minimum daily expenses reasonably 7
to be incurred by such juror]. 8
(2) Persons who appear in court in response to a summons for jury duty and who are 9
not relieved from jury service shall receive full compensation for each day they are 10
required to be and are in attendance, even though they are not sworn or accepted for 11
jury service. 12
Section 2. KRS 32.011 is amended to read as follows: 13
Nothing contained in this chapter[KRS 32.011 to 32.070] shall be construed as limiting, 14
restricting, or terminating the authority of local governmental units, including cities, 15
counties, charter county governments, consolidated local governments, unified local 16
governments, and urban-county governments, to provide or supplement financial support 17
for the court system and the offices of the Commonwealth's attorneys which are serving 18
that local community[, and all such units of local government are further authorized to 19
supplement the financial support provided thereto by the state under KRS 32.011 to 20
32.070]. 21
Section 3. The following KRS section is repealed: 22
32.070 Expense allowances for grand jurors, petit jurors, and persons summoned for 23
jury service. 24
