UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2327 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 2/23/2024 4:40 PM Jacketed A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Curly Moore Memorial Bridge in Floyd 1 County. 2 WHEREAS, on October 25, 1973, Left Beaver Fire and Rescue Sergeant Curly 3 Moore suffered a fatal heart attack in the cab of the fire engine while on his way to render 4 aid at a structure fire in the community of Maytown; and 5 WHEREAS, the driver of the fire engine immediately changed course for the 6 nearest hospital but did not arrive in time to save Curly Moore; and 7 WHEREAS, Curly Moore was survived by his wife, eight children, and two 8 stepchildren; and 9 WHEREAS, on September 29, 2021, Curly Moore was honored by the inclusion of 10 his name on the Kentucky Fallen Firefighters Memorial; and 11 WHEREAS, Curly Moore was remembered by his granddaughter, Monica 12 Gayheart, as a family man who "loved saving people" and "loved fighting fires"; and 13 WHEREAS, the service and sacrifice of Curly Moore is eminently worthy of 14 tangible public recognition; 15 NOW, THEREFORE, 16 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 17 ď˘Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 18 Route 3680 at the Harold/Minnie Connector in Floyd County as the "Curly Moore 19 Memorial Bridge" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect 20 signs denoting this designation. 21
