A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Anderson County Veterans Memorial 1 
Highway. 2 
WHEREAS, it is the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have 3 
secured and maintained this nation's liberty and freedom for almost 250 years; and 4 
WHEREAS, the Armed Forces of this great nation have intervened in countless 5 
conflicts around the world to stop the spread of tyranny, overthrow murderous despots, 6 
and allow the liberties we enjoy to flourish around the world; and 7 
WHEREAS, time and again throughout this nation's storied history, countless 8 
soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines, many of them from Anderson County, Kentucky, 9 
have served their country with courage, diligence, and honor; and 10 
WHEREAS, both here at home and at military cemeteries around the world, row 11 
upon row of plain white headstones pay mute testimony to the ultimate sacrifice made to 12 
protect our freedom and our way of life; and 13 
WHEREAS, all Americans owe a debt of gratitude that we can never repay to the 14 
selfless men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces; and 15 
WHEREAS, even though millions of friends and loved ones have shed silent tears 16 
and endured grief-filled hearts, there remains a constant overwhelming pride in the 17 
veterans who have gallantly served their country; and 18 
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that Anderson County veterans are honored in a 19 
public and tangible way; 20 
NOW, THEREFORE, 21 
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 22 
Section 1.  The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the portion of United 23 
States Route 62 in Anderson County, from mile point 18.276 to mile point 18.825, as the 24 
"Anderson County Veterans Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the 25 
effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting the designation. 26
