A RESOLUTION recognizing February 26 to March 1, 2024, as Public Schools 1
Week in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 2
WHEREAS, Public Schools Week is a time to celebrate the impact of public 3
schools on students throughout the Commonwealth, from providing quality academic 4
instruction to promoting responsibility and civic engagement; and 5
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Education recognizes that approximately 6
638,236 students utilize the public school system throughout the Commonwealth of 7
Kentucky; and 8
WHEREAS, the General Assembly recognizes that more than 85,000 teachers, 9
administrators, transportation staff, and many other employees actively work to invest in 10
students and communities, both in schools and beyond the walls of every school house; 11
and 12
WHEREAS, a quality education is a significant foundation for the continued 13
flourishing of our Commonwealth, as well as our country and society at large. Through 14
education we can create a brighter future for many while equipping students for the 15
future; and 16
WHEREAS, educators provide a well-rounded curriculum while fostering a love of 17
learning; and 18
WHEREAS, students, teachers, and professionals make our public schools a vital 19
component of our community; and 20
WHEREAS, educators, parents, and communities are working hard to improve 21
educational outcomes for all students; and 22
WHEREAS, Kentucky public schools are providing students with educational 23
opportunities as a gateway to the future; and 24
WHEREAS, Public Schools Week is an opportunity to honor our teachers and 25
administrators and celebrate the impact of public schools on our students and 26

NOW, THEREFORE, 1
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 2
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 3
Section 1. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky 4
proudly honors our public schools and hereby recognizes February 26 to March 1, 2024, 5
as Public Schools Week. 6
Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 7
copy of this Resolution to Representative Timmy Truett for delivery. 8
