AN ACT relating to minimum staffing requirements for long-term care facilities. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
ď˘SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 216 IS CREATED TO 3
READ AS FOLLOWS: 4
(1) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall implement a system of 5
minimum staff-to-resident ratios as a condition of licensure or relicensure for 6
long-term care facilities in the Commonwealth. The staffing ratios shall be 7
adjusted to meet the care needs of the residents based on acuity of care. 8
(2) By January 1, 2025, the cabinet shall promulgate administrative regulations in 9
accordance with KRS Chapter 13A to implement the system of staff-to-resident 10
ratios and set penalties for violations. 11
