UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 208 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 1/2/2024 12:50 PM Jacketed A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Chief Deputy Jody Wayne Cash Highway 1 in Caldwell County. 2 WHEREAS, Jody Wayne Cash was born on October 31, 1977, in Princeton, 3 Kentucky, the son of Harold Wayne and Teresa Lane Cash; and 4 WHEREAS, Jody Cash made a life's work out of serving his fellow citizens as a 5 law enforcement officer, graduating from the Department of Criminal Justice Training 6 Class #278, and subsequently serving as a deputy sheriff with the Caldwell County 7 Sheriff's Department, and later the Murray State University Police Department; and 8 WHEREAS, Jody Cash continued his service with the Kentucky State Police, 9 graduating as valedictorian of Class #89, and serving for eight years before he retired at 10 the rank of sergeant; and 11 WHEREAS, after his retirement, Jody Cash went back to work as the chief deputy 12 in the Calloway County Sheriff's Department and as a Drug Enforcement Administration 13 officer working out of Paducah; and 14 WHEREAS, on May 16, 2022, Chief Deputy Jody Cash was tragically killed in the 15 line of duty when he was shot by a suspect; and 16 WHEREAS, the loss of a public servant such as Chief Deputy Jody Cash, a loving, 17 witty, selfless soul who was a great friend to many people in good times and bad and who 18 truly lived his life with a servant's heart, is the cause of great sadness and mourning; and 19 WHEREAS, the life of Chief Deputy Jody Cash is truly worthy of tangible 20 recognition, no matter how insignificant the recognition may seem; 21 NOW, THEREFORE, 22 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 23 ď˘Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the portion of Kentucky 24 Route 293, within the city limits of Princeton, as the "Chief Deputy Jody Wayne Cash 25 Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, 26 erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 27
