Louis Mitchell Jr. was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on June 8, 2 1964, to David Louis Mitchell Sr. and Susan Jon Mitchell; and 3 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell was a proud graduate of Frankfort High School where 4 he was a valued member of the varsity baseball team; and 5 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell continued his education at Kentucky State University, 6 where he earned an undergraduate degree. He then attended Norwich University and 7 received a master's degree in International Diplomacy; and 8 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell then embarked on a career of dedicated service to his 9 country and this Commonwealth. He served as a military police officer in the Air Force; 10 an Alcohol Beverage Control agent in Kentucky; and an officer in the Army National 11 Guard, proudly serving in the Gulf War; and 12 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell followed the call of serving his country when he and 13 his family relocated to South Florida in 1997 so he could serve as Supervisory Special 14 Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); and 15 WHEREAS, with the FBI, Louis Mitchell had a distinguished career touching many 16 different programs. A proud moment came when he served the Director of the FBI during 17 an 18-month temporary duty in Washington, D.C.; and 18 WHEREAS, upon retirement from the FBI in 2019, Louis Mitchell and his family 19 relocated back to his home, Frankfort, Kentucky, where he served the American Red 20 Cross; the FBI office in Lexington; and as an investigator with the Attorney General's 21 office; and 22 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell passed away on November 30, 2023, after a valiant 23 battle with pancreatic cancer; and 24 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell was preceded in death by his son, Christian Dutton 25 Mitchell; and 26 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell is survived by his wife, Kathryn R. Dutton-Mitchell; 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1939 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/7/2024 11:36 AM Jacketed his two daughters, Alexandra Rose Dutton and Caroline (Luca) Giovine; and his 1 grandson, Salvatore Giovine. He is also survived by his parents; his sisters, Lori Letulle 2 and Michelle (Monty) Chapel; his cousins; Cassie (Russell) Givens and Angie (Reed) 3 Wilbers; his nephew, Mitchell Letulle; his niece, Ashton Moore; his uncle, Gregg 4 Hosley; and his aunt, Janie Hosley; and 5 WHEREAS, Louis Mitchell's service to his country and this Commonwealth leave 6 a legacy that all should aspire to follow; 7 NOW, THEREFORE, 8 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 9 Kentucky: 10 Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 11 sympathy upon the passing of D. Louis Mitchell Jr. and honor him for his service to his 12 country and Commonwealth. 13 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit three copies of this 14 Resolution to Kathryn Dutton-Mitchell, 118 West Campbell Street, Frankfort, Kentucky 15 40601. 16
