UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1529 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/13/2024 3:25 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION commemorating the 78th Southern Legislative Conference of 1 The Council of State Governments Southern Office. 2 WHEREAS, The Council of State Governments Southern Office, CSG South, is a 3 nonpartisan, nonprofit member organization that serves the southern legislatures of 4 Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North 5 Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia; and 6 WHEREAS, with regionally based state leadership and perspective, and national-7 level resources, CSG South provides southern legislators and government staff with a 8 wide variety of programs and services that facilitate regional cooperation and encourage 9 the exchange of information; and 10 WHEREAS, the mission of the organization is to serve as a community of the 11 states, committed to connecting, informing, inspiring, and empowering public servants in 12 all three branches of state government to put the best ideas and solutions into practice; 13 and 14 WHEREAS, in pursuit of this mission, CSG South has convened the Southern 15 Legislative Conference (SLC) for the past 77 years, with decades of fellowship and 16 cooperation between the 15 southern states; and 17 WHEREAS, the 78th Southern Legislative Conference will convene in White 18 Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, at The Greenbrier from July 21 to 25, 2024; and 19 WHEREAS, more than 1,500 legislators, government staff, and their families will 20 gather to discuss policy matters specifically affecting southern states to bridge 21 commonalities and discuss solutions for current policy trends, challenges, and 22 opportunities; 23 NOW, THEREFORE, 24 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 25 Kentucky: 26 Section 1.
