She graduated from Seneca High School and Western 4 Kentucky University; and 5 WHEREAS, Betty was a vibrant spirit and had diverse interests. She loved to read, 6 play gin rummy and bridge, use Facebook, and shop online. Betty loved celebrating 7 Christmas and her Christmases were legendary; and 8 WHEREAS, Betty had many talents including bowling, golfing, and dancing in her 9 younger years, sewing, knitting, and making many new crafts found on Pinterest; and 10 WHEREAS, Betty and her husband, Dr. James "Jim" A. Ewing, had season tickets 11 to the University of Kentucky football games for over 40 years. Betty loved their winter 12 escapes at Marco Island, Florida, and summer fun on their houseboat on Green River 13 Lake; and 14 WHEREAS, in the 1980s, Betty was a business owner of Sensations gift store, 15 showing her flair for style and retail shopping; and 16 WHEREAS, Betty was a faithful member of Bethel First Presbyterian Church and a 17 lifelong follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; and 18 WHEREAS, Betty peacefully departed this life on March 24, 2024, and was 19 preceded in death by her parents and cherished sister, Linda Ries Hays; and 20 WHEREAS, Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jim; her children, Dr. 21 Jimmy (Pam) Ewing, Jennifer (Chuck) Meyers, and Jill (Keith) Lee; her grandchildren, 22 Shelby Ewing (Bryan) Gatlin, Ries (Kelsey) Ewing, Jennifer Mason Lee, Walker Lee, 23 Carson Meyers, and Cooper Meyers; her great-grandson, Grayson Gatlin; several nieces 24 and nephews; and her bonus daughter and devoted caregiver, Amanda McNeill; 25 NOW, THEREFORE, 26 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2502 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 3/26/2024 3:15 PM Jacketed Kentucky: 1 Section 1.
