UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2509 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 3/28/2024 5:54 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION commemorating the momentous occasion of the 200th 1 anniversary of the creation of Oldham County. 2 WHEREAS, Oldham County was created by the Kentucky General Assembly on 3 February 1, 1824, from portions of Jefferson, Shelby, and Henry Counties, making it the 4 74th county of the Commonwealth; and 5 WHEREAS, Oldham County's namesake was Colonel William Oldham, who 6 notably served in the Revolutionary War at Lake Champlain, Valley Forge, Brandywine 7 Creek in Delaware, and Monmouth in New Jersey; and 8 WHEREAS, the municipal jewels in Oldham County's crown include the 9 prosperous and historic cities of La Grange, Crestwood, Pewee Valley, Goshen, Prospect, 10 and Westport; and 11 WHEREAS, Oldham County is home to beautiful farmland that produces thriving 12 livestock and bountiful produce, an eminently successful bourbon distillery, lucrative and 13 unique businesses, and friendly and proud citizens, all of which are steeped in the storied 14 history of this community; and 15 WHEREAS, on February 15, 2024, the people of Oldham County began the grand 16 celebration of its bicentennial year; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, 18 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 19 Kentucky: 20 Section 1. The Senate congratulates the citizenry of Oldham County on the 21 momentous occasion of its bicentennial celebration, with the knowledge that Oldham 22 County will continue its prosperous trajectory for at least another two hundred years. 23 Section 2. The Senate recognizes Oldham County's unique history and its 24 manifold contributions to the spirit and well-being of Kentucky.
