Burton was born on June 17, 1956, in Liberty, Kentucky, to 3 the late Elmer and Lucille Buck Burton; and 4 WHEREAS, James O. Burton was a great lover of sports and an avid University of 5 Kentucky Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs fan; and 6 WHEREAS, James O. Burton was a dedicated family man, enjoying playing 7 basketball with his grandchildren as well as other hobbies such as travel and listening to 8 the radio; and 9 WHEREAS, Teresa Ann Burton was born on December 1, 1967, in Columbus, 10 Indiana, to Helen McFarland Caudill and the late Marshall Caudill; and 11 WHEREAS, Teresa Ann Burton was as devoted to her family as her husband, 12 cherishing her children and grandchildren; and 13 WHEREAS, Teresa Ann Burton was a kind and creative person who enjoyed 14 traveling, scrapbooking, arts and crafts, and cooking; and 15 WHEREAS, James O. Burton and Theresa Ann Burton were mutually devoted to 16 honoring Christ through their marriage, actively attending Christ Tabernacle together at 17 which Teresa regularly taught Sunday School; and 18 WHEREAS, James O. Burton and Teresa Ann Burton's lives were tragically cut 19 short along with a third person in a car crash following Easter Sunday services on March 20 31, 2024; and 21 WHEREAS, despite their sudden and unforeseen passing, James O. Burton and 22 Teresa Ann Burton departed this world together in the sure hope of resurrection and 23 welcome into the loving embrace of their Lord and Savior, to whom they were both 24 devoted; and 25 WHEREAS, James O. Burton is survived by his beloved family, including children 26 Josh (Cassie) Burton, Jason (Angie Spears) Burton, Jordan (Kaylee) Burton, Jacob (Ticia 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2518 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 4/4/2024 11:24 AM Jacketed Aranda) Burton, and Bethany Burton; and siblings, Ramona (Paul) Martin, Shirley 1 Hayes, Darrell (Anita) Burton, and Francis Allen; and 2 WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, James O. Burton is preceded in death by his 3 former spouse, Barbara Burton and a brother, Phillip Burton; and 4 WHEREAS, Teresa Ann Burton is survived by her beloved family, including 5 children, Cassie (Josh) Burton, Brandon (Kayla Hayes) Cooper, Ericia (Wade) Cornett, 6 Dakota Lemons, and Jackie Dylan Cooper; siblings, John Gadberry, Diane Buck, and 7 Donna (Mark) Murphy; and first husband, Jimmy Cooper; and 8 WHEREAS, in addition to her father, Teresa Ann Burton is preceded in death by 9 her firstborn child, Timothy Cooper; and her former spouse, Buck Lemons; and 10 WHEREAS, James O. Burton and Teresa Ann Burton are also survived by twenty-11 three grandchildren and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones who honor their 12 memory; 13 NOW, THEREFORE, 14 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 15 Kentucky: 16 Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 17 sympathy upon the passing of James O. Burton and Teresa Ann Burton. 18 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 19 memory of James O. Burton and Teresa Ann Burton. 20 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 21 Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for delivery to the family. 22
