A RESOLUTION recognizing historic and economic significance of the Capital 1
Plaza Hotel. 2
WHEREAS, constructed in 1984, the Capital Plaza Hotel is located in downtown 3
Frankfort at 405 Wilkinson Boulevard; and 4
WHEREAS, the Capital Plaza Hotel represents the culmination and last remaining 5
vestige of urban renewal in downtown Frankfort; and 6
WHEREAS, the Capital Plaza Hotel was the location of an FBI sting operation that 7
resulted in groundbreaking legislation to create some of the strongest legislative ethics 8
laws; and 9
WHEREAS, the Capital Plaza Hotel represents the Commonwealth of Kentucky's 10
investment in the economic growth of Frankfort through development of the local 11
hospitality industry and tourism; and 12
WHEREAS, the preservation and recognition of the historic significance of the 13
Capital Plaza Hotel will continue to spur economic development in the Frankfort 14
community and the wider Commonwealth of Kentucky; 15
NOW, THEREFORE, 16
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 17
Kentucky: 18
Section 1. The Senate recognizes the Capital Plaza Hotel as a historic resource 19
with significance at the local and state level. 20
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 21
Resolution to Senator Gex Williams for delivery. 22
