A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Wallace 1 
Ray Akin. 2 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin was born on September 8, 1943, to Leslie "Pat" 3 
Akin and Eliza Estelle Neagle Akin; and 4 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin honorably served this great nation as a member of 5 
the United States Army, and he retired as a game warden with the Kentucky Department 6 
of Fish and Wildlife; and 7 
WHEREAS, in the 1990s Wallace Ray Akins owned and operated W.R. Akin 8 
Trucking in Greensburg, and in the 2000s he worked for the Department of Corrections 9 
in LaGrange; and 10 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin was a faithful member of Greensburg Baptist 11 
Church; and  12 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 54 of 13 
Greensburg, as well as a lifetime member of the Green County Sportsman Club; and 14 
WHEREAS, in his younger life, Wallace Ray Akin enjoyed hunting. He was a 15 
lifelong fisherman, and if he wasn't out on the water, he could be found watching it on 16 
television or talking about it; and 17 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin could also be found supporting his daughter, 18 
Tammy, who he affectionately called "his Baby," at her basketball and softball games. He 19 
could often be heard yelling "Go, Tammy, go!"; and 20 
WHEREAS, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, Wallace Ray Akin departed this earthly 21 
life at the age of 80 in certain hope of resurrection and welcome into the loving embrace 22 
of his Lord and Savior; and 23 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin was preceded in death by brothers Roy, Alton, 24 
Dalton, Gordon, Herman, Buford, and William "Doyle"; sisters, Sarah "Sadie" 25 
Newcomb, Norma Jean VanMeter, and Martha Jane Robinson; and 26 
WHEREAS, Wallace Ray Akin is survived by Linda Akin, his wife of 53 years; 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	24 RS BR 2557

daughter, Tammy Akin; sister, Bernice Maedell Shirley; sisters-in-law, Eldora Akin and 1 
Jeanette Duncan; brother-in-law, William Robinson; aunt, Marlis Akin; nieces, Teresa 2 
Shirley, Judy Newcomb-Roblero, Anita (Jimmy Ray) Foster, Genia Scott, Gina (Dave) 3 
Gibson, and Ellen (Eric) Gregory; nephews, Steve (Lisa) Akin, Tony Akin, Danny 4 
(Leasa) Akin, Ricky Newcomb, Kevin Akin, Doug (Jessica) Beard, and Jason (Anne) 5 
Beard; and a host of other relatives and friends; 6 
NOW, THEREFORE, 7 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 8 
Kentucky: 9 
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 10 
sympathy upon the passing of Wallace Ray Akin. 11 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 12 
memory of Wallace Ray Akin. 13 
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 14 
Resolution to Senator David Givens for delivery to the family. 15
