A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Kelsey 1 
Friend Jr. 2 
WHEREAS, a native of Pikeville, Kentucky, Kelsey Friend Jr. was born on May 3 
29, 1946; and 4 
WHEREAS, Kelsey Friend Jr. was a proud graduate from the University of 5 
Kentucky, a prominent Eastern Kentucky attorney, a retired District Court Judge who 6 
served the 35th Judicial District for 19 years; and a former member of the House of 7 
Representatives for the 93rd District; and 8 
WHEREAS, Kelsey Friend Jr. was a founding member of the New Beginnings 9 
Fellowship Church and served as the chairman of the elder board; and 10 
WHEREAS, Kelsey Friend Jr. was a spiritual man who was recognized for 11 
overcoming obstacles in his life, having compassion towards others, and being committed 12 
to bettering his community; and 13 
WHEREAS, along with his parents, Kelsey Friend Sr. and Margaret Friend, Kelsey 14 
Friend Jr was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelsie Ann Friend; and 15 
WHEREAS, Kelsey Friend Jr. is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Branham 16 
Friend; his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" (Paul) Bird, his son, Kelsey (Amanda) 17 
Friend III; his brother, Joe Jett (Cindy) Friend, his sister, Clarissa Friend; and his 18 
grandchildren, Emily, William, Andrew, McKinlee, Karleigh, Konner, and Brayden; 19 
NOW, THEREFORE, 20 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 21 
Kentucky: 22 
Section 1.   The members of the Senate do hereby express their most profound 23 
sympathy upon the passing of Kelsey Friend Jr. 24 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 25 
memory of Kelsey Friend Jr. 26 
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	24 RS BR 1383
