UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 345 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 1/21/2025 4:22 PM Jacketed A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the James Ishmael Tackett Memorial Bridge 1 in Lawrence County. 2 WHEREAS, James Ishmael Tackett was born November 30, 1923, in Potter, 3 Kentucky, to the late Jessie B. and Ollie Trimble Tackett; and 4 WHEREAS, six months after his graduation from high school, James Tackett 5 joined the United States Navy, serving as a radioman and achieving the rank of Chief 6 Petty Officer, and seeing action in both World War II and the Korean War; and 7 WHEREAS, after his 12 years of service in the United States Navy, James Tackett 8 returned home to Kentucky and began a career with the Internal Revenue Service as an 9 accounts and appeals officer; and 10 WHEREAS, James Tackett was a member of the Louisa Methodist Church; and 11 WHEREAS, James Tackett was a proud and active member of the Republican Party 12 in Lawrence County; and 13 WHEREAS, James Tackett was described by his son as "the most patriotic man you 14 could have ever met"; and 15 WHEREAS, James Tackett passed away April 27, 2014, leaving behind his family, 16 friends, and community who cherish his memory; and 17 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the life and service of James Tackett be 18 recognized in some tangible way; 19 NOW, THEREFORE, 20 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 21 ď˘Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on United 22 States Route 23 in Lawrence County, over Blaine Creek at mile point 23.6, (Bridge 23 Numbers 064B00056R and 064B00056L) as the "James Ishmael Tackett Memorial 24 Bridge" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect 25 appropriate signs denoting this designation. 26
