A RESOLUTION recognizing February 6, 2025, as Kentucky Nurses Day in the 1
Commonwealth. 2
WHEREAS, nurses positively impact the health and well-being of Kentuckians 3
across the Commonwealth; and 4
WHEREAS, the nursing profession is recognized as the nation's most trusted 5
profession; and 6
WHEREAS, nurses have been licensed in Kentucky since 1914 and over 100,000 7
nurses are currently licensed in the Commonwealth, working in a variety of settings and 8
specialties; and 9
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Nurses Association, established in 1906, is the only full-10
service professional organization for the state's entire nurse population; and 11
WHEREAS, Kentucky's nurses have been continuously dedicated to providing care, 12
teaching nursing students, contributing to the scientific understanding of illness and 13
health, and promoting good health policy; and 14
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Nurses Association represents and supports all segments 15
of nursing practice and advocates for nurses, patients, and their families by working with 16
the state legislature and stakeholders; 17
NOW, THEREFORE, 18
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 19
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 20
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives hereby proclaim 21
February 6, 2025, as Kentucky Nurses Day in the Commonwealth. 22
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in 23
honor, recognition, and celebration of Kentucky's nurses and the service and high-quality 24
care that they provide to Kentuckians. 25
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 26
copy of this Resolution to Representative Mary Lou Marzian for delivery. 27
