A RESOLUTION recognizing March 2, 2025, as Read Across America Day. 1 
WHEREAS, reading is the building block to learning and the foundation for future 2 
success; and  3 
WHEREAS, in 1998, the National Education Association started the Read Across 4 
America campaign to encourage children to read every day and to raise awareness about 5 
the importance of reading; and 6 
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Education Association celebrates Read Across America 7 
and the positive impact it has made in the schools and the Commonwealth of Kentucky; 8 
and 9 
WHEREAS, Read Across America is a national celebration of reading that 10 
promotes literacy and adult involvement in the education of pupils and will be celebrated 11 
on March 2, 2025, in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday; and 12 
WHEREAS, the theme of this year's event, "Celebrate a Nation of Diverse 13 
Readers," reminds children of all ages that learning to read is fun and one of the most 14 
important things they will learn to do; and 15 
WHEREAS, pupils, parents, teachers, sports figures, celebrities, firefighters, and 16 
business and community leaders are taking part in Read Across America events to 17 
celebrate the joy of reading; and 18 
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Education Association, local schools, libraries, 19 
bookstores, businesses, and other community organizations will commemorate Read 20 
Across America Day; 21 
NOW, THEREFORE, 22 
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 23 
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 24 
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives enthusiastically 25 
endorse Read Across America and encourage the citizens of the Commonwealth to 26 
engage in programs and activities to make America's children the best readers in the 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	25 RS BR 1988

Section 2.   The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 2
