Brown was born on April 25, 1962, in Madisonville, 3 Kentucky, to the late William C. and Julia Brown; and 4 WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown graduated from Madisonville-North Hopkins High 5 School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from the University 6 of the South (Sewanee), earned a law degree from the Cumberland School of Law at 7 Samford University, and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from 8 Eastern Kentucky University; and 9 WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown was licensed to practice law in both Georgia and 10 Kentucky, and maintained a multifaceted law practice where he was best known for his 11 work in protecting vulnerable populations; and 12 WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown advocated for the best interests of children as a 13 guardian ad litem for 25 years, helped families navigate the juvenile and domestic court 14 systems, and acted as a guardian and conservator for individuals deemed unable to care 15 for themselves, serving his clients and helping them to better their lives at their most 16 vulnerable moments; and 17 WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown was admired by both colleagues and adversaries, not 18 only because he was honest, meticulous, and reliable, but also because he had an 19 incredible sense of humor and brought levity to tough situations; and 20 WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown was a loving husband to his wife of 24 years, Rashmi, 21 and a devoted father to his daughter Sunni, and together they were his life's greatest joys; 22 and 23 WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown passed away on February 24, 2025, after a courageous 24 battle with ALS. In addition to his wife and daughter, Peter E. Brown is survived by his 25 two sisters, Sarah Van Pelt and Virginia (Mike) Martin; his nieces, Julia Martin (Caleb) 26 Strawn and Lucy Martin (Austin) Eck, and a host of friends and loved ones; and 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1991 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/27/2025 2:44 PM Jacketed WHEREAS, Peter E. Brown will be missed for his intellect and compassion, as 1 well as the joy he brought to his work and to the lives of others; 2 NOW, THEREFORE, 3 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 4 Kentucky: 5 Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sympathy upon the 6 passing of Peter E. Brown. 7 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 8 memory of Peter E. Brown. 9 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 10 Resolution to Senator Max Wise for delivery to the family. 11
