A RESOLUTION recognizing April 4, 2025, as Going Pro Day in Kentucky. 1 
WHEREAS, 72 percent of jobs in the United States will require some 2 
postsecondary education or training by 2031, including more than 1.3 million jobs in 3 
Kentucky; and 4 
WHEREAS, current projections show a workforce shortage for middle-skilled 5 
professionals of more than 300,000 to meet labor demands; and 6 
WHEREAS, as Kentucky’s economy grows, more students and businesses are 7 
partnering with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and 8 
the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to support learners at all junctures of their 9 
educational pathways; and 10 
WHEREAS, KCTCS enrolls more than 107,000 credential-seeking students and 11 
supports more than 65,000 enrollees through workforce training programs throughout the 12 
Commonwealth; and 13 
WHEREAS, in the last year alone, nearly 95 percent of KCTCS credentials 14 
awarded were in programs aligned to the state’s top five targeted industry sectors of 15 
advanced manufacturing, business and information technology, construction and skilled 16 
trades, health care, and transportation and logistics, or were designed for transfer to a 17 
four-year university; and 18 
WHEREAS, in the last year alone, KCTCS colleges collaborated with more than 19 
3,000 companies and graduated nearly 18,000 students in key sectors, including 20 
healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing, logistics, and business services; and 21 
WHEREAS, KDE’s Office of Career and Technical Education provides more than 22 
120 state-approved career and technical education pathways, equipping students with the 23 
education and skills necessary to meet workforce demands in Kentucky; and 24 
WHEREAS, more than 143,000 secondary students participated in career and 25 
technical education in Kentucky during the 2023-2024 school year; and 26 
WHEREAS, more than 26,000 postsecondary credentials were attained by 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	25 RS BR 2035

Kentucky students in the 12th grade cohort in the 2023-2024 school year; and 1 
WHEREAS, over the next two months, KCTCS and KDE will organize a "signing 2 
season" in the Commonwealth for Kentuckians "Going Pro" by launching their careers, 3 
educational pathways, and skills development; 4 
NOW, THEREFORE, 5 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 6 
Kentucky: 7 
Section 1.   The members of the Senate hereby proclaim April 4, 2025, as Going 8 
Pro Day in the Commonwealth. 9 
Section 2. The Senate recognizes the Kentucky Community and Technical 10 
College System and its partners for their effort in providing affordable access to high-11 
quality postsecondary credentials. 12 
Section 3.   The Senate recognizes students and graduates who are "Going Pro" 13 
and beginning their professional careers. 14 
Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 15 
Resolution to Senator Amanda Mays Bledsoe. 16
