A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of 2024-2025 Kentucky 1
Optometric Association President Dr. Leslie Cecil. 2
WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Cecil, a native of Somerset, Kentucky, has worked in the 3
optical field since 1994. After working as a licensed optician, she fulfilled her dream of 4
becoming an optometrist by completing her undergraduate studies at the University of 5
Louisville and earning her Doctorate of Optometry from the prestigious University of 6
Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry; and 7
WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Cecil has worked in every aspect of the optical field, from 8
doctor’s technician and optical manager to optometrist. She currently owns and operates 9
her business, Cecil Family Eyecare, practicing full scope optometry in Bardstown, 10
Kentucky; and 11
WHEREAS, on Friday, April 19, 2024, Dr. Leslie Cecil was sworn in as the 12
President of the Kentucky Optometric Association; and 13
WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Cecil goes above and beyond in her field of study, serving 14
on the Kentucky Optometric Association Board of Trustees since 2016, participating as a 15
member of the American Optometric Association, and volunteering with various eye care 16
organizations; and 17
WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Cecil resides in Bardstown, Kentucky, with her family and 18
loves the small-town environment it provides. She believes in giving every patient 19
individualized care and has a genuine desire to form lasting, trusting relationships with 20
her patients; and 21
WHEREAS, this body honors Dr. Leslie Cecil on this day for her years of service 22
as an optometrist and her extraordinary care to her patients and her staff at Cecil Family 23
Eyecare, grants her best wishes as she continues to improve the lives of her patients and 24
community, and duly honors her husband, Kevin Cecil, and their sons, Brady and 25
Connor; 26

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1
Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The Senate hereby commends Dr. Leslie Cecil upon being named the 3
2024-2025 Kentucky Optometric Association President and grants her best wishes as she 4
continues to provide quality care to her patients in Bardstown. 5
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Dr. Leslie 6
Cecil. 7
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 8
Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery. 9
