UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 865 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 12/19/2024 9:38 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Senator 1 Albert Robinson. 2 WHEREAS, Albert Robinson was born on December 19, 1938, at Silver Mine 3 Camp in Clay County, Kentucky; and 4 WHEREAS, Albert Robinson spent his childhood in the East Bernstadt area of 5 Laurel County, Kentucky; and 6 WHEREAS, Albert Robinson earned a degree from Cumberland College, now 7 University of the Cumberlands; and 8 WHEREAS, he loved farming, fishing, and hunting. His farm was his earthly 9 paradise, which he spent his lifetime improving; and 10 WHEREAS, he greatly loved God, his family, friends, state, and country. His 11 commitment to Christ was the driving force in his decision-making, both in his public 12 and private life. Senate President Robert Stivers remarked that "his unwavering 13 commitment to his Christian faith and conservative principles...was evident to all who 14 knew and worked with him."; and 15 WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, Albert Robinson's service to the 16 Commonwealth spanned over 50 years, as a member of the Kentucky House of 17 Representatives from 1972 to 1985 and 1987 to 1989, and as a member of the Kentucky 18 Senate, representing District 21 from 1994 to 2005 and 2013 to 2021. During his tenure 19 in the Senate, he served on the Banking and Insurance, State and Local Government, 20 Transportation, and Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committees. He 21 served as chair of the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee from 22 2015 to 2021; and 23 WHEREAS, throughout his life, Albert Robinson was a natural-born leader and 24 entrepreneur who was selflessly devoted to both his community and this Commonwealth. 25 As was written in his obituary, "No matter if he was helping build a sausage company, a 26 real estate company, or developing land, Albert was successful. He was a natural leader 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 865 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 12/19/2024 9:38 AM Jacketed and entrepreneur that did big things without seeking glory for himself."; and 1 WHEREAS, his calling to serve the citizens of his community was quickly 2 recognized by prominent leaders of this Commonwealth. In the words of Attorney 3 General Russell Coleman, "In a career of public service that covered more than 50 years, 4 Senator Robinson was a steadfast advocate for the people of Southeastern Kentucky." 5 Andy Westberry, Communications Director of the Republican Party of Kentucky 6 remarked on how Senator Albert Robinson was a "selfless public servant" who 7 "dedicated nearly half a century to serving our Commonwealth, holding positions in both 8 legislative chambers throughout his long and distinguished career." Senate President 9 Robert Stivers also remarked that "Few can parallel the depth of service to the 10 Commonwealth that our friend Albert Robinson gave to his community and state."; and 11 WHEREAS, when he was laid to rest on December 4, 2024, he was surrounded by 12 his closest family; and 13 WHEREAS, Albert Robinson is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Lucille; 14 three children; six grandchildren; two brothers; and numerous relatives and friends; 15 NOW, THEREFORE, 16 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 17 Kentucky: 18 Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sympathy upon 19 the passing of Senator Albert Robinson, and posthumously thanks him for his service to 20 the Commonwealth. 21 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 22 memory of Senator Albert Robinson. 23 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 24 Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for delivery. 25
