A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of former 1 
State Representative Pearl Ray Lefevers. 2 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers was born on December 31, 1937, in Molus, 3 
Kentucky, to Elmer and Ruby Lefevers; and 4 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers started his teaching career at 19, later serving as 5 
the principal of Bell County High School, and completing his teaching career as Bell 6 
County superintendent from 1993 to 1997; and 7 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers was an accomplished principal and educator, 8 
notably making Bell County the first school in Kentucky to ban smoking on its campus; 9 
and 10 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers always went out of his way to assist students in 11 
need of clothing and food. He also helped many students get into college and encouraged 12 
generations of students to pursue higher education; and 13 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers served as a State Representative for several 14 
successful terms, one of which he served as the minority caucus chairman of the House of 15 
Representatives. One of his many accomplishments while serving his community was 16 
successfully passing the Kentucky Education Reform Act. He was later inducted into the 17 
5th Congressional District Hall of Fame; and 18 
WHEREAS, for the last 25 years, Pearl Ray Lefevers served his community by 19 
working with individuals with mental health and behavioral disorders to achieve their 20 
highest potential; and 21 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers was inducted into the Bell County Hall of Fame 22 
Class of 2022-2023 in celebration of all that he achieved for the community he loved so 23 
dearly; and 24 
WHEREAS, anyone who knew Pearl Ray Lefevers understood that he loved his 25 
family, friends, education, and politics; and 26 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers departed this earthly life on June 27, 2023, in his 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	25 RS BR 1978

home with his loving wife, Robin, by his side; and 1 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, 2 
Emily Lefevers Hoskins and Joyce Mary Lefevers; sister, Joyce (James S. Stewart Jr.) 3 
Lefevers Stewart; and brother, David Lanny Lefevers; and 4 
WHEREAS, Pearl Ray Lefevers was survived by his wife, Robin Neal Lefevers; 5 
son, Todd (Becky) Baker; sister, Jennifer (Johnny) Lefevers Jones; grandson, Clint 6 
(April) Hurley; granddaughter, Brooke (Justin) Abbott; great-grandchildren, Jakeb 7 
Hurley, Dylan Hurley, Harper Hurley, Addison Abbott, and Avery Abbott; his dearly 8 
loved niece, Jonna Jones Knox; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; 9 
NOW, THEREFORE, 10 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 11 
Kentucky: 12 
Section 1.   The Senate does hereby express its most profound sympathy upon 13 
the passing of former State Representative Pearl Ray Lefevers, and posthumously thanks 14 
him for his service to the Commonwealth. 15 
Section 2.  When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 16 
memory of former State Representative Pearl Ray Lefevers. 17 
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 18 
Resolution to Senator Brandon Smith for delivery. 19
