STUDENT/TUITION:  Provides that certain out-of-state students shall pay in-state tuition
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 17:3351(E), relative to the powers, duties, and responsibilities of public2
postsecondary education management boards; to require such boards to adopt3
policies to establish certain tuition and fee amounts applicable to certain nonresident4
students; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 17:3351(E) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง3351.  General powers, duties, and functions of college and university boards8

E. In addition to any other powers and duties authorized by this Section, each10
board shall adopt, by not later than January 1, 2011, a policy applicable to students11
who are not residents of Louisiana but who reside within one hundred miles of12
Louisiana's geographical boundaries which policy requires that tuition and13
mandatory attendance fee amounts at an institution under its supervision and14
management shall be equal to tuition and mandatory attendance fee amounts15

Abstract: Provides that certain out-of-state students shall pay in-state tuition and fees.
Present law provides generally for powers and duties of public postsecondary education
management boards. Proposed law additionally requires each board to adopt a policy
establishing the same tuition and mandatory attendance fee amounts for students who are not
residents of La. but who reside within 100 miles of  La.'s geographical boundaries as those
applicable to La. residents.
