HOUSE BILL NO. 114
BY REPRESENTATIVE MILLS
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES:  Removes member from the Prescription Monitoring
Program Advisory Council
AN ACT1
To repeal R.S. 40:1005(A)(5), relative to the Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory2
Council; to remove the president of the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of3
Psychologists from the Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Council; and to4
provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 40:1005(A)(5) is hereby repealed in its entirety.   7
Section 2. The Louisiana State Law Institute is hereby authorized and directed to8
redesignate R.S. 40:1005(A)(6) through (25) as R.S. 40:1005(A)(5) through (24).9

Abstract: Removes the president of the La. State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
from the Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Council.
Present law provides that the advisory council for the Prescription Monitoring Program shall
consist of the following persons: the president of the La. State Board of Medical Examiners;
the president of the La. State Board of Dentistry; the president of the La. State Board of
Nursing; the president of the La. State Board of Optometry Examiners; the president of the
La. State Board of Examiners of Psychologists; the president of the La. Academy of
Physicians Assistants; the president of the La. Board of Pharmacy; the superintendent of the
La. State Police; the administrator of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; the speaker
of the La. House of Representatives; the president of the La. Senate; the chairman of the
House Committee on Health and Welfare; the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health
and Welfare; the secretary of DHH; the president of the La. State Medical Society; the
president of the La. Dental Association; the president of the La. Association of Nurse HLS 10RS-734	ORIGINAL

Practitioners; the president of the Optometry Association of La.; the president of the La.
Pharmacists Association; the president of the La. Independent Pharmacies Association; the
president of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores; the president of the La. Sheriffs'
Association; the president of the La. District Attorneys Association; the president of the
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America; and the president of the La.
Academy of Medical Psychologists.
Proposed law retains present law except it removes the president of the La. State Board of
Examiners of Psychologists from the Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Council.
Proposed law authorizes and directs the La. State Law Institute to redesignate R.S.
40:1005(A)(6) through (25) as R.S. 40:1005(A)(5) through (24).
