Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 1193 BY REPRESENTATIVE RICHMOND JUVENILES: Allows juveniles to obtain state identification without permission from parent or guardian AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1321(A), relative to special identification cards; to allow2 persons seventeen years of age and under to obtain a special identification card3 without a parental signature; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 40:1321(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6 ยง1321. Special identification cards; issuance; fees; expiration and renewal;7 exceptions; promulgation of rules; promotion of use; persons less than8 twenty-one years of age; the Protect and Save our Children Program;9 Selective Service Registration10 A. Any Louisiana resident may obtain a special identification card from the11 office of motor vehicles within the Department of Public Safety and Corrections,12 hereinafter referred to as "OMV". Present law provides that identifying information and documents required to obtain a special identification card are the same as those required to obtain a license. Proposed law provides that for persons 17 and under, the signature of a parent or guardian shall not be required, provided the applicant has the proper identifying information and documents.
