MTR VEHICLE/DRIVER LIC: Decreases disability threshold relative to the disabled
veterans exemption
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 32:412.2(A)(2), relative to disabled veterans; to decrease the2
disability threshold for exemption from driver's license fees; and to provide for3
related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 32:412.2(A)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
§412.2.  Disabled veteran exemption7
A. A veteran of service in the United States Armed Forces shall be exempt8
from the payment of fees under this Chapter for the issuance of a driver's license if9
the veteran meets all of the following qualifications:10

Abstract: Decreases the disabled veteran disability threshold for exemption from driver's
license fees.
Present law provides that veterans shall be exempt from the payment of driver's license fees
if they meet all of the following conditions:
(1)Was honorably discharged.
(2)Has a service-related disability of at least 60%.
(3)Receives compensation from the U.S. government because of such disability.
(4)Is not subject to the registration requirements of Chapter 3-B of Title 15 of the L.R.S.
of 1950.
Proposed law decreases the disability percentage to 50%, otherwise retains present law.
