MTR VEHICLE/DRIVER LIC: Provides for suspension of driver's license upon premature
removal of ignition interlock device
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:667(J), relative to driver's licenses; to provide for driver's license2
suspension for removal of ignition interlock device; and to provide for related3
matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 32:667(J) is hereby enacted to read as follows:6
ยง667.  Seizure of license; circumstances; temporary license7

(J) Upon notice to the department that a driver has prematurely removed or9
disabled, or caused to be prematurely removed or disabled, an ignition interlock10
device required as condition of reinstatement pursuant to Subsection I of this11
Section, the department shall mail notice to the driver that his license is suspended12
until such time as the department receives sufficient proof that the driver has had the13
ignition interlock device properly reinstalled and paid all applicable reinstatement14

Abstract: Requires DPS&C to suspend the driver's license of drivers who prematurely
remove an ignition interlock device installed as a condition of reinstated driving
privileges. 
Proposed law requires DPS&C to suspend the driver's license of drivers who prematurely
disable an ignition interlock device installed as a condition of reinstated driving privileges.
Proposed law provides that the suspension shall last until the driver provides proof that the
ignition interlock has been reinstalled and applicable reinstatement fees have been paid.
