MTR VEHICLE/DRIVER LIC:  Requires certain notification that driver of vehicle is to
have an ignition interlock device
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:667(I)(4), relative to driver's licenses; to provide for ignition interlock code2
on certain driver's licenses; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 32:667(I)(4) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5

(4) When an ignition interlock device is required as a condition of10
reinstatement, the office of motor vehicles shall designate a restriction code and11
place such code on the license of a driver who is required to have an ignition12
interlock installed and maintained as a condition of reinstatement. 13

Abstract: Provides that certain driver's licenses reinstated with the condition that a
functioning ignition interlock device be installed in their vehicle contain a code
indicating as such.
Present law provides persons involved in certain DWI offenses are required to have an
ignition interlock device installed on their vehicle as a condition of reinstating their driver's
license.
Proposed law retains present law and provides that a code be placed on the driver's license
of persons involved in certain DWI offenses who are required to have an ignition interlock
device installed on their vehicle as a condition of reinstating their driver's license.
Effective Jan. 1, 2011.
