PUBLIC CONTRACT/BIDS:  Provides for announcement of time and place for public bids
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 38:2214(A), relative to public contracts; to remove the2
requirement that a public entity include the time and place for bids in its resolution;3
and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 38:2214(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง2214.  Designation of time and place for opening bids; right to reject bids7
A. The public entity desiring to let a public contract shall, in its resolution8
providing for the contract or purchase and for in the advertisement for bids, designate9
the time and place that the bids will be received and shall at that time and place10
publicly open the bids and read them aloud. However ; however, no public entity11
shall accept or take any bids, including receiving any hand delivered hand-delivered12
bids, on days which are recognized as holidays by the United States Postal Service.13

Abstract: Removes the requirement that a public entity include the time and place for bids
in its resolution providing for the contract or purchase.
Present law provides that public entities shall, in their resolutions providing for the contract
or purchase and for the advertisement for bids, designate the time and place that the bids will
be received.
Proposed law removes the requirement that the resolution designate the time and place for
taking of bids, otherwise retains present law.
