HOUSE BILL NO. 1304

HIGHWAYS:  Provides for the designation of the Myths and Legends Byway
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:1948.5(57) and to enact R.S. 56:1948.5(63), relative to2
highways; to designate a section of certain highways as the Myths and Legends3
Byways and the Cane River National Heritage Trail Scenic Byway; and to provide4
for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 56:1948.5(57) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.7
56:1948.5(63) is hereby enacted to read as follows:8

The following highways and sections of highways are hereby designated as10
Louisiana Byways:11

(57)  The portion of US 190 from the Louisiana-Texas border to the city limits13
of DeRidder. Myths and Legends Byway:14
(a)  LA 8 from the Texas/Louisiana  border eastward to its intersection with15
LA 111 southward to its intersection with US 190.16
(b)  US 190 from the Texas/Louisiana border to the intersection of US 190.17
(c)  LA 112, east along LA 112 to the intersection.18
(d)  LA 113 in Sugartown, northeasterly from Sugartown to the intersection.19 HLS 10RS-1008	ENGROSSED

(e) LA 10 in Pitkin then southeasterly along LA 10 to the intersection with1
US 165 in Oakdale.2

(63) Cane River National Heritage Trail Scenic Byway:4
(a) LA 6 beginning at the Washington Front Street to the intersection of Pavie5
Street and one block south of the intersection of LA 1.6
(b) East on Church Street to Keyser Avenue LA 494.7
(c) West on Keyser Avenue to the intersection of LA 119.8
(d) LA 119/494 to the divergence of the roads at Oakland Plantation Bridge.9
(e) LA 119 until its intersection with LA 1.10
(f) East at LA 1 towards Derry and continues on LA 1 to its intersection with11
LA 490 where the road becomes LA1/490.12
(g) La 1/490 to Gilbraith where LA 490 turns north.13
(h) LA 1 to Lena.14
(i) Beginning at the Allen Exit on I-49 North of Natchitoches traveling west15
and south along LA 485 to LA 6 and returning east to Natchitoches.16

of the parishes Allen, Beauregard, and Vernon as a La. Byway.
Deletes the Attakapas-Coushatta Scenic Byway that now is known as the Myths and Legends
Byway.
Designates the Cane River National Heritage Trail Scenic Byways indicating certain
highways on this route exclusive of the parishes of Natchitoches and Rapides.
