AMUSEMENTS/SPORTS: Provides relative to the compensation received by
commissioners of the Boxing and Wrestling Commission
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 4:67(C)(1), relative to boxing and wrestling commissioners; to2
provide for an increase in per diem for commissioners of the State Boxing and3
Wrestling Commission; to repeal the maximum amount of compensation a4
commissioner may receive in certain situations; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 4:67(C)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7
ยง67.  Gross receipts tax; deputy commissioners and doctors; disbursements8

C.(1) The taxes provided for by this Section shall constitute a special fund,10
which shall be disbursed as provided in this Chapter. The commission shall receive11
the following salaries: the chairman shall receive a salary of ten thousand dollars per12
annum; the vice chairman shall receive a salary of six thousand four hundred dollars13
per annum; the secretary shall receive a salary of seven thousand two hundred dollars14
per annum; the four other members of the commission each shall receive a salary of15
four thousand three hundred dollars per annum, said salaries to be paid from the16
monies available in the special fund. If the money available in the special fund is17
insufficient to pay the maximum salaries herein authorized, such salaries shall be18
reduced proportionately and paid in such amounts as will not exceed the funds19

any commissioner who is required to travel to attend, organize, or oversee any1
boxing event, mixed technique event, or wrestling event shall be entitled to the2
payment of a per diem of eighty one hundred fifty dollars per day, such amount3
being immediately due and payable to the commission member at the time of the4
given event. However, under no circumstances may a commissioner receive more5
compensation, including per diems, in one calendar year than the salary set forth in6
this Section.7

Abstract: Provides for an increase in per diem for commissioners of the State Boxing and
Wrestling Commission.
Present law provides that any boxing and wrestling commissioner who is required to travel
to attend, organize, or oversee any boxing event, mixed technique event, or wrestling event
receive a per diem of $80 per day.
Proposed law changes present law to increase the per diem from $80 to $150.
Present law provides for an annual salary for each commissioner to the extent payable from
a special fund derived from a gross receipts tax.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law further provides that the total compensation received by a commissioner,
including per diem, shall not exceed the authorized salary amount.
Proposed law repeals present law.
